Social Justice to me is when all people are treated with equality. It
doesn't matter about the race, gender, or class the person is. Social Justice is
one thing all humans should have and no one should be able to take it away from
a person because we are suppose to be united. Social Justice is to help those
being oppressed by the oppressors to liberate themselves. Social Justice kind of
means to be free and not oppressed because oppression is bad and people sould
not have to go through that because they are not animals. My perspective of
Social Justice was way different my freshman year from my senior year. In my
freshman year at first I thought Social Justice mean't your voice being heard by
people around you. But then I came to realize that Social Justice really means
equality that every single person in this world to have.
Famous people that have tought Social Justice before in there own ways are Cesar Chavez, Paulo
Freire, and Martin Luther King. Cesar Chavez fought for improvement in the
conditions that workers faced such as long hours, harsh working conditions, and
poor treatment. Chavez and Freire kind of connect for that because Freire talked
about the oppressed being dehumanized by the oppressors and how it was wrong and
unjust. Martin Luther King spoke out for justice to African Americans, for an
end to racial discrimination, and against the laws that embodied it and the many
unconscious behaviors and assumptions that were supported by those laws. Some of
these leaders successfully showed the people and the world about Social
Justice.
The one thing we as people could do to keep Social Justice alive is to try
to create equality to all races in general. To treat every single race same way
and receive the same benefits as others. Like for example if a white person and
an African American person work at the same job and the white person gets paid
more is unjust. Everyone should get paid the same because we are all the same.
Another strategy is organized a group of people to create a movement to seek for
change and to not give up if the situation gets hard. Just like Martin Luther
King did it with the African Americans in the 1960s. People struggle also to
achieve Social Justice because at times they are not being given the chance to
learn about it. Also because we do not treat people with the respect they
deserve. Social Justice can only occur if we treat everyone with the same
equality and respect.
What I could do for people who do not know about
Social Justice is teach them little by little so they could know about it. Also
if I see other people taking advantage of other people I would go up to that
person and say that is unjust and it doesn't show Social Justice to the
community. I would want schools all around the United States to teach there
students about Social Justice and all the possitive things it could do for a
community. Mostly everyone in the United States do not know what the word Social
Justice means or have not heard of the word. Thats why teachers should teac
students that at a young age.
